Hello, my name is Robert Nenque (Berto). God has led me, along with the support of my wife Karissa, my two daughters Emma and Avery, our church family, and three coaches to run a nonprofit mixed martial art, Brazilian jujitsu program at my church New Life Church of the Nazarene.
I have trained in karate and boxing since I was 10 years old. I currently hold a black belt in Karate, a Brown belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu and a background in Muay Thai.
I started my Martial arts career in 2006 after my sister was murdered. I needed something to help keep my mind focused. God used Jiu Jitsu to help changed my life, and it helped me to work through the loss of my sister. This practice helps me to get in shape and overcome the anger.
In 2007 I started up an MMA / BJJ ministry to help others. I am committed to changing lives and showing the love of Christ to everyone that walks through our doors. We train together, travel together, break bread together and pray together. We have become a family unit through martial arts. All are welcome to the gym no matter where they are coming from in life.
